Black Forest: Hansel and Gretel & The 420 Witch

With Paramount wrapping its Jeremy Renner-starrer “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters,” a trio of indie companies is prepping an alternate take on the Grimm brothers’ classic fairy tale, titled Black Forest: Hansel and Gretel & The 420 Witch.
Duane Journey will direct from David Tillman’s script, which concerns a witch living in Pasadena who lures teens into her house with a special blend of marijuana so she can eat them in order to maintain her youth.

Michael will be playing Hansel and “Castle” star Molly Quinn will play Gretel, while Lara Flynn Boyle (“Men in Black II”) will play the sinister witch.

Production is scheduled to start Nov. 12 in Los Angeles. For the complete article in Variety just click the link.

Upcoming Events

Michael will be attending a free event put on by the folks Of Light And Darkness and Dean Jones. Its Saturday, Oct 15 between 7:30-10:30 pm in Snow Camp NC. Michael will be signing autographs and you can get copies of the book Of Light and Darkness as well as a live concert performances by Candace Sharee, author of the book and Shayne Leighton. (He’s also filming the trailer for the upcoming film while there. For more information about the event, click here! You can also check out their facebook page here.

Michael’s all time favorite charity, Kids with a Cause is back and he will be supporting his longtime charity at Tustin Tiller Days Event. Just click the link for all the info!

I am the girl who stays up late at night crying in her room with a knife. I am the girl who used to feel alone. Thanks to this page, I feel like I am not alone. I feel like I am not the only person. I am an Archie.

He wrote: I was feeling really down today, like really down, like near beyond the worst I’ve EVER felt. And so my friend just walks up to me and he says, “You’re not alone”. Something very strange happened in that very second, I got really excited. I felt like yelling, “I’m not alone!”. That was it, the missing puzzle piece keeping me from happiness. Acceptance, he’ll never know he saved my life…

All of this, in most cases, is before they even see the movie!

We’ve always envisioned a youth issue/ teen suicide prevention community growing from the film — something that would live on — this looks like the next early step. Some of these kids are clearly in need, and when appropriate we are reaching out personally to them with our mental health professional partners…(as we’ve done since the movie started playing in Berlin)… and even more powerfully, they are reaching out to each other…

Hopefully, this is the beginning of a wider reaction from young people and families worldwide, healing and inspiration and communication like the film has prompted on its festival run…
